Breast Reduction

Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin in order to achieve the largest breast size according to your body and to relieve the discomfort caused by of excessively large breasts.

Operation procedure

The anesthesia in this operation is total. The techniques used are several. Usually most surgeries include removal of breast tissue and readjustment of the areola. The plastic surgeon will plan on the points where the incisions will be made before the operation, once anesthesia is administered an incision will be made (one of the most common procedures is the anchor-shaped incision, which is made around the areola and occupies an area of the lower ones to the natural curve of the chest “fold” ). In most cases the nipple remains attached to the rest of the gland and fatty tissue and simply moves higher up the chest wall.

In cases of very large breasts, it is sometimes necessary to detach the nipple and areola in a higher position transplant.
