Hyperhidrosis is a pathological condition in which increased sweat production is observed. It occurs equally in both sexes and more often after the second decade of life.<\/p>

Where<\/u><\/strong>due<\/u><\/b><\/p>

Hyperhidrosis is divided into primary<\/u> and secondary<\/u>.<\/p>

In primary hyperhidrosis there is an increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system, while in the case of secondary hyperhidrosis the causes are other diseases which result in the overproduction of sweat, e.g. thyroid diseases, metabolic or hormonal disorders;<\/p>

Therapeutic treatment<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

In the case of hyperhidrosis, your doctor will give you a series of tests in order to clarify whether it is primary or secondary hyperhidrosis. In secondary hyperhidrosis, the treatment includes only the treatment of the main disease. Focal primary hyperhidrosis occurs mainly in the armpits, soles, palms and face. Older treatments with iontophoresis or antiperspirants do not have particularly impressive results in severe cases, while also surgical treatments e.g. surgical removal of sweat glands or sympathectomy are now rare.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The modern treatment of hyperhidrosis is the injection of botulinum toxin A (disport). Botulinum toxin (botulinum toxin type A) inhibits the activation of sweat glands and reduces sweating. The areas we can use by injecting botulinum toxin A are the armpits, palms and soles. The duration of the result is from 6 to 9 months. The underarm area has better and longer lasting results that can last up to a year.<\/p>

What to avoid after botulinum toxin treatment<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

After treating hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin one should avoid rubbing the treated area. Also to avoid increasing the temperature in the area, therefore intense physical activity as well as alcohol consumption are prohibited for three 24 hours after the treatment of hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin.<\/p>

Is it a safe treatment?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

It is a safe treatment because it does not stop the normal secretion of sweat, it just reduces it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
